About
Leaann dearman petersen
LeaAnn Dearman Petersen is an award-winning creative professional who defies the conventional boundaries of right and left-brain ideologies. With an unwavering belief that creativity and methodical thinking can coexist harmoniously, she exemplifies the epitome of a successful public communicator who wears multiple hats.
In June 2023, LeaAnn embarked on an exciting new journey as The Woodlands Township's Director of Communications. Prior to this, she showcased her expertise and leadership as the Director of Public Affairs for the City of Seabrook, where she made a significant impact over an impressive 11-year tenure.
LeaAnn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from UT Permian Basin in 2002, followed by a Master of Science in Interactive Communication from Quinnipiac University in 2004. Returning to UT Permian Basin after her graduate studies, LeaAnn served as a Communication Lecturer.
In 2006 she embraced the role of Webmaster with the City of Midland while continuing to inspire students as a university lecturer. As time passed, her responsibilities expanded to the city’s first Multimedia Developer. In this multifaceted role, LeaAnn adeptly managed all the city's multimedia assets and stepped in as the acting PIO when required.
In 2014, LeaAnn earned her Public Communicator's Certification through the CPC program at Texas Christian University. Demonstrating her dedication to professional development, in 2023, she received her Certification as a Public Manager from the UH Hobby School of Public Affairs.
